Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel used his show tonight to give a heartbreaking response to last night’s horrifying mass shooting in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Kimmel was visibly holding back tears as he gave a monologue about the shocking terror attack in which an elderly white man, Stephen Paddock, mercilessly gunned down 58 people and injured over 500 more from his thirty-second story hotel room.
“Here we are again in the aftermath of another terrible, inexplicable, shocking and painful tragedy — this time in Las Vegas, which happens to be my hometown. And, of course, we pray for the victims – and for their families and friends and we wonder why, even though there’s probably no way to ever know why a human being would do something like this to other human beings who were at a concert having fun listening to music.”
He then touched on the frustration that all of us feel after seeing these atrocities committed again and again and again with little to no action from our representatives in Congress, who happily fill their pockets with blood money from the National Rifle Association while Americans die in droves from gun violence.
Add your name to demand Trump & Congress act to prevent gun violence. THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE NOT ENOUGH!
“And, as a result of that this morning, we have children are without parents and fathers are without sons, mothers without daughters. … It’s the kind of thing that makes you want to throw up. Or give up. It’s too much to even process.
“I don’t know why do our so-called leaders — continue to allow this to happen? Or maybe a better question – why do we continue to let them allow it to happen?
“Tell your Congresspeople to do something. It’s not enough to send your love and prayers.”
It’s hard to put emotions into words after tragedies like this, but Kimmel did his best.
