A New Jersey pastor has been charged with sexually assaulting four minors for a period of 16 years.
Police arrested 74-year old Harry L. Thomas this week on charges of aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child, NJ.com reported. The alleged assaults took place between 1999 and 2015 in Medford, NJ. He faces multiple counts of the charges.
Thomas, currently the pastor of Come Alive Church in Medford, is also one of the co-founders of Creation Festival in Kennewick, WA, which is the nation’s largest Christian music festival. He’s currently being held in a medical facility for treatment because he was allegedly too ill to go to jail and has yet to make a court appearance.
A trustee from the Come Alive Church said that Thomas has been suspended from his leadership of the church.
“It is with deep regret and saddened hearts that the board of Come Alive International and Creation Festivals along with the elders and trustees of Come Alive New Testament Church have indefinitely suspended Pastor Harry Thomas from all leadership positions with the church, festival and all associated ministries,” Trustee William Darpino said. “While the allegations are unrelated to his roles in these ministries, leadership has determined this to be the proper course of action at this time until there can be a full investigation.”
Authorities are asking anyone who may have experienced inappropriate contact by Thomas to call the Prosecutor’s Office Sexual Assault/Child Abuse Unit at 609-265-5879.
