FCC Chairman Called Out Alyssa Milano For Defending Net Neutrality. Her Response Just Went Viral

Written by TalesOfTheNorth

With Trump’s FCC Chairman Ajit Pai poised to revoke the net neutrality doctrine that has governed the internet since its inception, an unlikely heroine has risen to help lead the fight against the move that most see as a yet another government giveaway to corporate interests.

Actress Alyssa Milano, who came to fame as a teenager in the sitcom Who’s The Boss, has emerged as one of the primary activists leading the charge against the repeal of net neutrality, joining comedian John Oliver in bringing attention to the issue and marshaling public opinion against it.

While Oliver has used the platform of his weekly HBO series to rally sentiment to preserve the current system, Ms. Milano has been preaching the gospel of net neutrality to her nearly three and a half million Twitter followers.

Milano’s recent retweet of a Bloomberg Politics article describing the nearly half a million comments on net neutrality policy that the FCC received from Russian email addresses was one of the few public comments that caught Chairman Pai’s attention, perhaps because of Milano’s decision to tag Pai and ask him directly to comment.

The Republican FCC Chairman attacked Milano, along with other celebrity supporters of net neutrality like Cher, Mark Ruffalo, and Silicon Valley’s Kumail Nanjiani, in a speech in Washington DC last week, ridiculing their opinions as “hysteria and hot air.”

Milano blasted back in a savage response filled with cold hard facts to her Twitter followers:

After that, the only thing left to say is, “Care to comment, @AjitPaiFCC?”

That and make sure to go to https://www.fcc.gov/ecfs/filings and comment on Proceeding 17-108: Restoring Internet Freedom. You’ll be asked to leave your name and address and a comment. You should write that you support Title 2 oversight of ISPs and oppose the repeal of net neutrality rules. You feel better after you do, and Alyssa Milano will surely appreciate your support.
